Rooted in Wellness:

Expanding the Hillside Apothecary

Nurturing Holistic Health, One Batch at a Time

Hillside Botanicals is going into year 6 and it’s time to grow!  We’ve been working on an exciting expansion that will take our small, passionate operation to the next level as a producer of high-quality, handcrafted herbal products, and we need your help!

Our Vision

Our current apothecary space has been a labor of love where we carefully craft small-batch herbal teas, tinctures, salves, and wellness products. However, we've really outgrown this humble space, and we’re beyond bursting at the seams!

The demand for our thoughtfully created products continues to grow beyond our current capacity, and we're eager to scale sustainably while maintaining the integrity and essence of the Land we steward.

The Project To Date

In Fall of 2024, we started renovations on an existing barn structure on our farmstead to transform it into the space we need to grow our value-add product line and take our small business to its next version.  The renovations include upgrading the current structure to include a commercial production kitchen, expanded product storage and shipping area, post-harvest processing room, and an on-farm walk-in cooler.  Nathan has taken lead on every aspect of the project, from project designs to carpentry! We’ve made incredible progress, including pouring a new concrete slab, reroofing, new windows and doors, interior framing, underground plumbing and electrical. Our eyes are now set on insulation, FDA-approved interior wall paneling for the production space, installation of plumbing fixtures and heat pumps, and exterior siding.

We were fortunate to be able to secure an initial construction loan to start the project, with the hopes that additional State and Federal grant funding, along with some personal savings, would provide a bridge to the finish line. However, we were unable to secure the grant funds needed to finalize the project and we now face a $17,000 deficit to see the renovation to completion.

The good news is that we firmly believe that with a boost in sales and some community support we can cross the finish line and unlock the vision this project holds, which is why we’re launching this campaign to do just that!

OUR FUNDING GOAL

To help bridge this Project’s remaining funding gap we are raising $10,000 through this campaign.

What Your Support Will Help Us Achieve

This campaign is our invitation to the community to join us in finishing this commercial production space that will:

  • Increase Production Capacity & Efficiency to Reach More Customers: Upgrade our facilities to produce larger quantities of our most beloved products more efficiently without compromising quality

  • Expand Our Product Line: Develop new value-added herbal and specialty food products that feature our own farm-grown herbs and crops

  • Achieve More Food Safety Certifications: Beyond our organic certification, we’re eager to achieve additional food safety certifications to underscore our commitment to making beautiful products you can trust

  • Community Education: Create a 4 season space for workshops, classes, and community education about herbal wellness and organic farming and gardening

How You Can Support

We’re asking for your support because we believe in the power of community, and we have some really easy ways to engage – including simply shopping our amazing array of handcrafted products! Every dollar coming into our business right now goes so much further because it is completely invested in this exciting and vital project.  You can support by:

  • Purchase a gift certificate for our West Brookfield plant nursery - Another great gift for a loved one or an option to “pre-invest” in your garden starts, similar to our old nursery pre-order program (Valid for retail nursery purchases only)

  • Donate Directly to Our Project - We welcome any dollar amount, no donation is too small! For every $20 received we will donate a bag of our organic herbal tea to the Randolph Area Food Shelf.

  • Share this campaign with 10 friends!

OUR FUNDING GOAL

To help bridge this Project’s remaining funding gap we are raising $10,000 through this campaign.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Growth

This expansion isn't just about individual business growth—it's about creating a regenerative model of commerce that benefits our entire community. By investing in our production capabilities, we'll be able to:

  • Provide more accessible, affordable wellness products made with locally produced ingredients

  • Maintain our commitment to ethical, transparent production practices

  • Support local economic and community resilience through our purpose-driven business model

We're rooted in this work to be of service to people and planet.

Thank you for helping these roots grow even stronger.
